Industrial mechanic
What we expect from you
You don't call a plumber or craftsman because you do most of your own work at home? You built everything up, plugged it in and made it work? Then an industrial mechanic has probably always been in you. We demand a concentrated and conscientious way of working. Teamwork is also a top priority. Good results in school leaving exams are desirable as a prerequisite as well as good grades in mathematics, physics and German. The training lasts for three and a half years, but can be shortened if performance is good.
What exactly will you do all day?
You make sure that all the machines needed for production work without any problems. You know the inner workings of every machine and are there with knowledge and tools when the plant has a bad day. A bit of paperwork is also a part of it, if you have to document an error correction on a system, for example, so that you know what you have done when it comes to the next problem. Craftsmanship is necessary because sometimes components have to be manufactured by hand. And you need a sure instinct when it comes to assembling systems so that everything runs smoothly in the end. When new machines or systems are introduced, you familiarize yourself with them.
Prospects after graduation
After completing your training, you will have the opportunity to build up and develop your career, for example through further training as a master craftsman or technician. If you meet the requirements, you can also study to start developing machines, improve production or develop completely new ideas.
