Spherical roller bearings can absorb large radial loads and the effects of the axial load in both directions simultaneously. The raceways allow for the reciprocal tilting of the rings during operation. This ensures the even distribution of loads on the rolling elements, even with the smallest shaft deflections or in cases of the axial alignment of the ring’s contact surfaces being non-compliant.
Spherical roller bearings are particularly suited as bearings for rolling mills. They are additionally used in rail vehicle's gears and bogies.
