Axial bearings
Axial bearings are ideal for transmitting unilateral (i.e. acting in only one direction) axial forces. Radial forces cannot be transmitted with this model. So that the balls do not come free of their raceway at high speed centrifugal forces, it has to be loaded with a minimum axial force.
Axial bearings are additionally available as axial, cylindrical and tapered roller bearings. These are well suited to absorbing large, axial forces acting from both sides, for example, as bearings for rolling mills. They are also used where high rigidity levels of the bearing formation in the axial direction are required. An example of this would be as bearings for carousel boards.
