Additional options
Here at rothe erde, we are continuously motivated to improve our service to our customers. Alongside our rothe erde® slewing bearings, rothe erde® rings and psl® rolling bearings, we offer our customer other options in an attempt to perfectly meet their requirements.
These options range from the designing of our products (calculations, coatings, accuracies and sealing systems), delivery (packaging) and quality assurance (certificates), through to after-sales support (service).
Your requirements, our solutions:
The guiding principle at thyssenkrupp rothe erde is as follows: Good service is just as important as our products. That is why our services are geared towards what is best for you.
1. Pallet packaging
Light ball-bearing supported rings and slewing rings (SR) are wrapped in anti-corrosive VCI film, except for wire-race bearings and SR with zinc flame-sprayed surfaces. These products are placed and banded together, up to a diameter of 3000 mm when being transported to a domestic destination, or a nearby international destination.
Zinc flame-sprayed SR are packed on pallets, wrapped in stretch film, and banded.
Turntables are protected by pallets and covers, wrapped in stretch film and then banded.
2. Case packaging
2.1 Standard packaging
Goods transported by air and sea are packed in boxes. This especially applies to easily damageable goods and accessories. Boxes with a width of more than 2.30 m are protected with film.
2.2 Screw-retained squared timber case
For SRs with a diameter of over 3.50 m, screw-retained squared timber cases are mainly used.
2.3 Seaworthy packaging
SRs with an outer diameter of over 2,300 mm are seaworthily packed to be transported by ship, i.e. they are shrink-wrapped in additional aluminium composite film.
2.4 Long-term packaging
Slewing bearings can be stored at customers’ sites for up to five years if they are packed specifically to be preserved for a long duration. Differences to seaworthy packaging include hygroscopes, better protection from PE form and a greater number of desiccant bags.
2.5 Plywood cases
Cases for SRs with a small diameter of 2.30 cm and accessories are packed in plywood cases.

thyssenkrupp rothe erde uses various calculation methods which either meet customer-specific requirements for a calculation method or the thyssenkrupp rothe erde design guidelines.
All the relevant calculations are carried out based on the application in question. This ensures that our customers receive confirmation of the suitability of the product, which meets the most recent requirements.
In the current product catalogue, in the “calculations” chapter, how our customers access load information is described in detail. This procedure reduces interpretation mistakes and massively accelerates the calculation process.
thyssenkrupp rothe erde recommends various monitoring options Firstly, we offer our Eddy-Current-Monitoring-System (ECMS). This is a measurement system integrated in the bearing to check the raceways and radii of all slewing bearing models, particularly roller bearings, for potential damage, such as wear, pittings and cracks.
We also offer our integrated wear measurement equipment (IWM). With our patented invention of integrated wear measurement equipment for slewing bearings, thyssenkrupp rothe erde allows for the inspection of the slewing rings’ maximum permissible axial clearance to take place. Interruption in operations are not necessary to record the wear of the raceways.
Using the rothe erde® monitoring system offers the advantage of significantly reducing maintenance costs since manual wear measurements are no longer needed.
thyssenkrupp rothe erde is a world leader in the implementation of specific customer requirements. Special requirements include accuracies described by the product’s features.
Thanks to our state-of-the-art machinery, all products presented here can be manufactured with the most diverse of accuracies in terms of bearing clearances (axial and radial), axial and radial run-outs, gearing and more.
If limiting these parameters or supplementing accuracy requirements mean added value, these requirements can be incorporated into the product.
In offshore technology, coating to protect against corrosion is indispensable. Here, thyssenkrupp rothe erde collaborates with external suppliers who have been certified by our quality management team. It is very important to us for our partners to test, clean, even out and coat in accordance with VawS §3 and §19g of the Water Resources Act, and, thus, ensure that our bodies of water are protected from pollutants. Approval with a Frosio NS 476 Level III Coating Certification is possible.
Our partners’ main areas of work include beaming, flame zinc spraying and surface coating. Using beam technology, surfaces which can be painted can be easily manufactured in the industrial area. Coating is selected in accordance with the customer’s request or in accordance with special requirements and ranges from a simple transport primer to the highest corrosion class C5 high. Our customers can choose between duplex system or an organic coating, depending on the protection duration of the corrosion categories C1 - C5 high, in accordance with DIN EN ISO 12944.
