thyssenkrupp rothe erde expands production in India

Dortmund/Nashik. thyssenkrupp rothe erde has expanded its international production network and commissioned a new, additional production line in India on an area of 10,600 m2 at the plant. "With the new line we are further expanding our capacities for the production of blade bearings for the wind power industry," explains Winfried Schulte, CEO at thyssenkrupp rothe erde. "This investment underlines our commitment to Prime Minister Modi's 'Make in India' initiative and we are thus making a key contribution to the decarbonization of power generation, not only in the Asian region."

The production facility in Nashik, western India, which has been in operation since 2007, can produce an additional 1,300 blade bearings per year. "The bearings have a diameter of up to five meters and can be used as blade bearings in both onshore and offshore wind turbines," explains Manish Aggarwal, Managing Director at rothe Erde India Private Ltd. "We are thus consistently aligning our production with the market requirements of the prospering wind power industry in the region and beyond." In total, the plant now covers 37,000 ft² of space on which bearings for various industrial applications are manufactured.

The international production network of thyssenkrupp rothe erde includes production facilities for rolling and slewing bearings as well as ring rolling mills in ten countries. In addition to wind energy, thyssenkrupp rothe erde supplies customers in a wide range of industrial applications. More than 6,200 people work for thyssenkrupp rothe erde worldwide, 450 of them in India. "More than 70 new jobs have been created on the new state-of-the-art production line," says Manish Aggarwal.
